The Pray First Network

A ministry of The Presidential Prayer Team

The Pray First Network is a portfolio of tools, platforms, and resources designed to create an active prayer lifestyle. The Presidential Prayer Team believes it is vitally important to pray first before making major decisions about our lives and our country, with the goal of helping people understand the will of God through prayer.

“Our organization exists to promote prayer for the president and leaders of this country. We recognize that people turn to the Lord in prayer for comfort and answers during times of crisis. We have created the Pray First Network to encourage and assist people in making prayer their ‘first resort’ and to keep prayer consistently at the front of their minds and hearts as they navigate life’s challenges.

White House Organizing Pandemic Learning Loss Mentorships

Funding for the program covered by the American Rescue Plan. This week, President Biden’s administration announced a new program seeking to pair 250,000 mentors with students who have fallen behind in their learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Department of Education reports that one in three students is nearly a semester behind in reading and math so the department is partnering with AmeriCorps and other service organizations to recruit qualified mentors using funds from the American Rescue Plan.  “Research shows that high quality tutors and mentors positively impact student achievement, well-being, and overall success,” the White House stated. “However, many schools need help recruiting and training the caring adults who are essential to implementing these high-quality, evidence-based programs.” For officials in the Department of Education as they work to catch students up to their appropriate grade level. For Education Secretary Miguel …

CDC Reports Omicron Variant Accounts for 70% of COVID Cases

The percentage rose 18 points over the previous week. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) released their weekly COVID-19 case report Tuesday which found that the BA.4 and BA.5 sub-variants of Omicron make up 70% of the current coronavirus cases in the United States. Omicron constituted only 52% of coronavirus cases the week before. “In a sense, we are chasing the virus, just as we do with influenza, and how close we can get to the variants that are prominent at the time, we’ll have to wait and see,” said Dr. William Schaffner, an infectious disease specialist at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. The FDA recently requested that vaccine producers redesign their vaccines to provide better protection against the new sub-variants. CDC Reports Omicron 52% of Current COVID-19 Cases

Vaccine producers testing formulas against sub-variants. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released a report this week showing that the BA.4 and BA.5 sub-variants of Omicron 52% of all current COVID-19 cases in the United States as of June 25. In the week of June 18, the sub-variants accounted for just more than a third of all cases. The CDC and COVID-19 vaccine makers are concerned that, though all current vaccines are somewhat effective against the sub-variants, they are not as effective as they were against the original coronavirus strains. Pfizer and Moderna have begun testing new versions of their vaccines against the quick-spreading strains, and the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) will be meeting to discuss if there are any changes to the vaccine design they would like to recommend. FDA May Modify COVID Vaccines for Fall

They plan to make decision by mid-July. The Food and Drug Administration is facing a critical decision: whether to offer new COVID-19 booster shots this fall that are modified to better match recent mutations in the coronavirus. Moderna and Pfizer have released updated shots against the omicron variant, and advisers to the FDA will debate this week if it is time to make a switch, setting the stage for similar moves by other companies “This is science at its toughest,” Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research Director Peter Marks said, adding that a final decision is expected within days of the advisory panel’s recommendation. Dr. Anthony Fauci told Congress last week, “The virus is changing and we need to keep up with it.” For Director Marks to seek God’s wisdom as he heads FDA’s Center for Biologics and Research. For Commissioner …

HHS Delivers 4 Million COVID-19 Vaccines for Children

4.3 million ordered by vaccination sites since made available. The Department of Health and Human Services has delivered more than 4 million doses of the 4.3 million doses of children’s COVID-19 vaccines requested by vaccination sites across the country. HHS spokesperson said last week that the department will continue to take orders for the foreseeable future. “We made 10 million doses of vaccine available for ordering initially, with millions more available soon, so supply should not be a barrier to someone getting their young child vaccinated,” the spokesperson said. There are nearly 20 million children below the age of 5 in the United States. Vaccines for this age group are now available at pharmacies, doctor’s offices, and children’s hospitals. For Secretary Becerra to seek God’s guidance as he oversees vaccine distribution. For wisdom for parents and guardians who are considering …

CDC Approves Moderna Teen COVID-19 Vaccine

Concerns about heart issues found to be inconsistent with review. On Thursday, the board of advisors for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) unanimously voted to recommend Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine for those aged 6 to 17. Though similar in structure and effectiveness to Pfizer’s vaccine for the same age range, there were some concerns that Moderna could negatively affect types of heart inflammation in younger males. After reviewing the data, the advisors found that the statistically insignificant number of those found with such issues were likely random occurrences rather than the cause of the vaccination itself.  The federal government needs the recommendation to receive the approval of CDC Director Rochelle Walensky before officially sending out the vaccine to vaccination providers. She is expected to sign off on the recommendation. For CDC officials as they review and assess …

State Department Predicts Three-Year Food Price Crisis

They say the war in Ukraine is the problem.  State Department Special Envoy for Global Food Security Cary Fowler said that food prices will remain elevated for years due to the war in Ukraine and other inflationary factors.  “We are dealing with a number of issues that are having an impact on inflation, that are not issues that can be easily resolved,” Envoy Fowler said. “I think we’re dealing with a multiyear crisis, and we ought to plan in that regard.”  The blockade by Russia of Ukrainian ports on the Black Sea has taken one of the world’s largest food providers of the international market as part of Russia’s plan to leverage against Ukraine and the Western powers that support it. That has contributed to food price increases worldwide.  “When Russia invaded the Ukraine, we were already in the midst …

How strong is your hupomone today? Faith can be born from trials and difficult times.

How should you feel in the face of uncertainty? John 14:1 – Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. Have you ever shared how you were feeling with someone and all they said to you was “Stop feeling that way?” Isn’t that just beyond irritating? How are you supposed to simply stop feeling a certain way, especially without help to know how? In John 14, Jesus had just said some things that deeply troubled his disciples. One of them was a traitor, all of them were going to deny Him, and He was going to be leaving them that night. Is it any wonder that they would feel troubled at this news? And yet, Jesus goes on to tell them not to feel troubled in John 14:1! Thankfully, he didn’t stop there, though. …

Psalm 74:22 – Arise, O God, defend your cause; remember how the foolish scoff at you all the day! Have you found yourself getting angry or frustrated at all that is going on in the country right now? Are there days you just miss “normalcy” and how things used to be so much you think you could scream? Did you know that it’s ok to tell God about those feelings of anger? Although the Israelites never faced a global pandemic in the Bible, they still faced their fair share of hardships. Perhaps one of the most devastating was the destruction of their place of worship by another nation. Psalm 74 was written as a prayer of great sorrow over this. In this psalm, the psalmist spends the majority of telling God what happened. He describes the destruction they saw, …
